What to Wear and Bring

What to bring:

*tent *sleeping bag * sleeping pads * pillow * personal items * toiletries * towels (extra towels for sweat lodges) * bedding for dorm beds (if in dorm) * 1 or 2 camp chairs * food (see the ‘Grocery List’ below) * personal eating plates, bowls, cups and utensils * drinking water (two gallons/day/person) * large cooler(s) with extra ice for the kitchen *  flashlights and lanterns with 2 0extra batteries * a mixture of warm and cool weather clothing * musical instruments, if desired * item to donate to raffle *  We have started a Big Heart Family Album at the raffle tent.  Please consider printing out some of your photos from past gatherings so they can be added.  Scrapbooking supplies will be available.  If you have questions, please email Mary at mpittman3@rochester.rr.com.  extra money for auction/raffle * material fees for workshops that may require them * crafts and games and skills to share with others.

Sweat lodge clothing:

  • Women: skirt or sarong and short sleeve top or modest dress (also appropriate for Moon Lodge)
  • Men: shorts (and shirt if you like)

To be aware of:

Please do not wear perfumes or fragrances when attending the lodge or gathering, as there are those in the community with sensitivities. Your cooperation will make for a healthier and happier experience for everyone.

GROCERY FOOD LIST:

There are many new exciting evolutions in our camp this year. Not the least of which is a simplified approach to the meal prep and the groceries needed.

Bring any items from this list that you will eat, but stick to items on this list. (If you have specific dietary needs, you may bring and store those needed items in your car.) PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL PRODUCE IS PRE- WASHED AND DRIED, WATER IS AT A PREMIUM IN CAMP!

Nuts, Nut Butters, Jelly, 
Bread
, Butter or Substitute

Cheese,
 Eggs (at least two dozen), 
Milk AND Half and Half – cow or alternative. Bring extra 1/2 & 1/2 if you use it!

Pre-made Salsa,  Bean Dips, Guacamole, and easy other lunch items that store well (no open containers).
Fresh Fruits
, Juice- orange, *grapefruit, or apple,
Hearty Lettuce – romaine, or any head lettuce,
 Leafy Greens – kale, spinach, cabbage, chard, 
Vegetables (feel free to bring from your garden items not listed below)
. ex: carrots, celery, zucchini/summer squash, mushrooms, tomatoes, bell peppers, broccoli, etc.
Root Veggies – parsnip, beets, etc.
Avocados!
Potatoes,

Coffee – bring DECAF if you drink it!
Dessert (one PER FAMILY)
Dry Cereal/ Granola
Canned Beans – cannelloni, garbanzo, and/or kidney (no dried beans)
One Snack Item (chips, etc.)
Your Favorite Fresh Herbs- chives, scallions, parsley, thyme, rosemary, dill, cilantro, basil, ginger, etc.- PLEASE MAKE SURE THEY ARE LABELED
MEATS: The following canned meats (bulk cans appreciated!): Tuna, Salmon, Chicken
Other meat is being provided, prepared, and gifted to the community for meals after lodges on Saturday and Sunday evenings by generous farmers and cooks.  Please DO NOT BRING other meat as we do not have the resources to keep it properly stored and kept safely refrigerated through the weekend.
