A Letter From Carl

Hello with Loving Greetings to you, My Dear & Cherished Friends and Companions upon The Path: To say that I’ve thought about you is an understatement. It’s like saying, ” I breath so that I can receive air.”  And as the omnipresent atmosphere invisibly permeates and sustains this world with it’s irresistible life giving force, so you are for me. I have no words which can express my gratitude for your support given in various forms — the caring prayers, your healing thoughts, and your awareness sent forth to hold…read more

You Are Wonderful!

A small team of us have been collaborating and working with John to create several video clips of him talking about and sharing his poetry – primarily as a means of helping him get more exposure for his recent self-published poetry collection: Moving To Completion. One of the fun clips were able to extract is John telling us, “you are wonderful!” Ever since I’ve known John, he has always poured out this very loving affirmation to everyone he encounters. John had a minor stroke about a month ago. We are…read more

He didn’t know how Carl had made it this far. When…read more

Caring For Carl

Carl’s recent surgery has not only challenged our community by keeping Carl from joining us at the lodge sites in ceremony this fall, his surgery has also challenged our ability to support him in the ways we usually do. Conversations have been occurring on both sides of the Atlantic about how we as a family can best support Carl in his time of need. In North America, Ruth, Billy Turtle Warrior, Natalie Little Crow, Dominik and myself have been having ongoing dialogues about the best ways to do this. How…read more

Updates from Ireland

Posted by in Community Updates, Family, Ireland, Memories, November 2014

Thanks to Stefan and everybody else who has contributed to initiating the Big Heart Newsletter. This is a great idea and a really valuable service to our community. It provides a great opportunity for all of us in the various countries to get to know each other and provides a window (espeically with the photos) into what the lodge communities and camps are like in each country. The newsletter is especially welcome for the majority of people who have not had the opportunity to travel and meet personally our brothers…read more

A Letter from Tatjana to the Big Heart family,

Posted by in Family, October 2014

In memorial of our dear Grandmother and Abenaki sister of Carl: In our Abenaki tradition I have been taught that we do not use a person’s name out loud after they have crossed.  They are said to be traveling across the milkyway for the first year (or first cycle of seasons).  The intention is not to distract or call them back from their journey, so very important. I think of her being helped by her dog Awasos, the teaching I’ve learned and not sure it is Abenaki, is to treat…read more
